Each project is handled a bit different, some projects do this the manual way and some others (the lucky ones)

use Self Committer Promotion.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Does the project uses Self Committer Promotion?
    1. Look into the code: https://gerrit.linuxfoundation.org/infra/gitweb?p=releng/info-master.git;a=tree;h=refs/heads/master;hb=refs/heads/mast
  2. If the project uses Self Committer Promotion:
    1. Please reply to the request asking them to use Self Committer Promotion https://docs.releng.linuxfoundation.org/en/latest/committer-management.html
    2. This is done in their project Gerrit and not directly in LF's Gerrit.
  3. If the project does not uses Self Committer Promotion:
    1. You will need their LFID (you can look in their JIRA profile to find it), the repos they need to be added to and TSC approval (email link, not wiki since wikies can be edited by anyone).
    2. If the repo is in Gerrit, look for the Owner of the repo under the Access tab. Add the person's LFID to the group mentioned as the "owner" (identity.linuxfoundation.org)
    3. If the repo in in GitHub, you will need their GitHub ID.
    4. Look into the repo's Settings → Manage Access and find the committer team that has write access (normally, the team will be called "<repo-name>-committers"
    5. Add the Github ID to the committers team.
